From the Netherlands to tourism hero in Görlitz
Since moving to Görlitz in 2008, Petrus Snoeijer, a Dutchman, and his family have developed a deep connection to the city. In addition to his native Dutch, he is fluent in English, German, and Polish. For many years now, he has been an outstanding ambassador for tourism and culture in Görlitz. His journey began with the tour guide certification, followed by continuous professional development that has made him a sought-after guide in Görlitz and Dresden museums. His multilingual skills have proven invaluable in this role.
Petrus Snoeijer played a key role in developing costumed city tours for the Görlitz Tourist Information Office. Disguised as merchant Frenzel, master builder Wendel Roßkopf, a cloth maker, or monk Petrus, he guides visitors through the city with an impressive wealth of knowledge and a dry sense of humor. For his many years of dedication to Görlitz, he was even honored this year as a tourism hero of Saxony.
He is currently working on a new guided tour about Jacob Böhme, which has already attracted considerable attention. His passion for the city and its cultural heritage makes him a deserving tourism hero of Saxony. In addition to Petrus Snoeijer, two other initiatives from Görlitz were also honored: the Tower Tour team of the Förderverein Kulturstadt Görlitz-Zgorzelec (FVKS) and the Görlitz Greeters from Goerlitz21 eV.
