Back to the roots – and new perspectives
Margarete Schott has a special connection to Görlitz: she was born here before her parents moved to the West 41 years ago. After many years near Mannheim, the family returned to the Neisse River in 2020 – and Margarete Schott decided to take the same step with her husband and young son David.
Returning to Görlitz brought some changes, but also exciting new opportunities. Finally, she took a big step and became self-employed as a real estate consultant, working together with her colleague Christine Nerling under the umbrella of the company Von Poll Immobilien.
Life between Görlitz and Zgorzelec
The family has now found a new home in Zgorzelec. Moving to Zgorzelec wasn't a problem at all: Margarete Schott's parents speak Polish, as do she and now her son David. He attends the Tecza kindergarten in Zgorzelec and is happy there. "It's worked out well for him," says Margarete Schott. Her husband, who was previously unfamiliar with the region, also feels at home now.
"Görlitz is a lovely city," says Margarete Schott, "which still offers room for development." With the German Center for Astrophysics and the other research institutions already located in the city, she sees positive developments in the real estate market.
