From student to professor: A career path in her hometown
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Anna Prenzel is a professor of Applied Computer Science at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. In this interview, the Görlitz native talks about her connection to HSZG, her enthusiasm for knowledge transfer, and her love for her hometown.
Professor Anna Prenzel, today we are introducing you as a professor, but you are already very familiar with HSZG. How come?
I began my studies at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences in 2006 and have been rooted here ever since. Today, I teach in the field of Applied Computer Science at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. As a native of Görlitz, I am particularly pleased to continue my professional career in my hometown.
You have never left Görlitz – what makes the region and especially the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences so special for you?
Görlitz is my hometown, where I love living. I adore the green spaces in my city, as well as the historic old town and the vibrant city center. In my free time, you might find me in one of the cafés on and around Postplatz, or enjoying the waves on Lake Berzdorf when the weather is stormy. The HSZG (Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences) also offers me the opportunity to conduct research and teach in my hometown – something I greatly appreciate.
